ABOUT THE BRAND

Also known as simply Genzyme, this company is located in Massachusetts USA and is a fully owned subsidiary of Sanofi since 2011. Back in 2010, it was the third-largest biotechnology group in the world with well over 11,000 employees all over the globe. Since it has been acquired, Genzyme has a presence in around 65 countries with 0 genetic testing laboratories, and 17 manufacturing facilities. They products are sold in over 90 countries, and in 2017 generated around $3.8 billion in revenue with over 25 products in the market.  

One of these products is Synvisc. Synvisc has two products in its line, Synvisc Classic and Synvisc One, with the difference between them being that the former needing multiple injections, and the latter needing only a single 6ml does. The Synvisc line was made with patients who have not found success in other treatments in mind, especially those who have tried specialized gear and even analgesics with lackluster results. The products last for over six months, with the classic version reported to reach up to a year. They have shown to be quite effective at lessening or even removing pain caused by osteoarthritis, and are a generally trusted and recommended line.
