Novartis (Nevanac) | About the Brand

NOVARTIS (Nevanac)

ABOUT THE BRAND

Novartis International AG is a Swiss Multinational pharma corporation which is based in Switzerland. Being one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, it serves patients and provides them with solutions and treatments worldwide. The companies Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz merged in 1996 to create Novartis, more specifically the agrochemical and pharmaceutical divisions of both parties formed it as an independent entity. The other parts of their business were either sold, or also spun off as independent companies.

One of the products in their vast portfolio is Nevanac, with the generic name nepafenac. It is a product that comes in the form of either suspension or drops, and is usually used to treat symptoms like irritation, eye pain, and redness that usually occurs after cataract surgery. Nepafenac belongs to a class of medications that are known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, and it works by making sure the natural substances known as prostaglandins in the patient’s body are blocked, as these are the ones that cause swelling and pain.
