Headquartered in Basel, Roche is widely known as the largest pharmaceutical company in the world, and is also the leading provider of cancer treatments on the globe. It was found in 1896 by Fritz Hoffman-La Roche, which was then producing various vitamin preparations and derivatives.      

Alongside Genentech, Roche is also responsible for the manufacturing of Actemra, also known as RoActemra, and it is a medication that severely reduces the effects of a substance in the body which causes inflammation. This drug is prescribed to treat rheumatoid arthritis, to slow down the lung function decline caused by scleroderma, as well treat giant cell arteritis. The drug has performed quite well in both clinical studies and real-world cases. This medication has also been used in Covid-19 patients who are receiving corticosteroid medicine treatment by mouth or injection, if they need more oxygen or mechanical ventilation.
