Eylea
Buy Eylea for patients that suffer from wet macular degeneration. With the generic name of aflibercept ophthalmic, this product is effective at not just treating wet AMD, but is also prescribed for diabetic macular edema, and macular edema following retinal vein occlusion.
What makes a good candidate?
This medication is specifically tailored towards helping patients suffering from different types of diseases that affect the macula, which is the central area of the retina.
Areas Treated with Eylea
This solution targets the eyes.
How does Eylea work?
This medication focuses on blocking growth, as well as the leaking of fluid due to the abnormal blood vessels in the back of the eye. These blood vessels are known to leak, and as a result, affects the patients’ vision. Eylea is very effective at stopping the growth of these abnormal blood vessels. They need a certain body chemical called VEGF, or vascular endothelial growth factor, to grow. This medication blocks VEGF, thereby slowing the growth of these blood vessels in the eye.
Treatment Details
Eylea must only be administered by a qualified physician. The vial must first be inspected for any particulates or discoloration in the solution. If none are found, then following aseptic methods, a 19G ½ filter needle is then attached to the 1ml syringe to withdraw the solution from the vial. Once the vial is emptied, the filter needle should then be properly disposed of, and then replaced with a 30G ½ injection needle. If needed, adequate anesthesia and topical microbicide should be applied, and afterwards, inject the solution intravitreally.
How long does Eylea last?
This product is usually given around once every 4 to 12 weeks. This is dependent on the doctor’s decision, and will vary depending on the condition being treated. After the injection, the injected eye/s will be periodically checked to ensure that the medicine is working as intended.
